ArlindJerliuarlind-jerliu2014-2015Lead VolunteerArlind Jerliu is a third-year student of English major in the University of Prishtina, where he also is a member of the Council of Faculty. He was born in Gjilan in 1993, where he pursued his primary and secondary studies. He continues to live in his hometown.
He has started to work as an English teacher at Britannica LC in October, 2014. He started volunteering at American Corner in 2013. Being a volunteer helped him grow up spiritually, and also helped him to acquire many new skills.
Arlind likes hiking, reading, teaching, and meeting different people.
Asdren Rafunaasdren-rafuna2014-2015Lead Volunteer Asdren Rafuna was born in Prishtina, and continues to live there. He was a theatre actor when he was a kid, a swimmer for nearly 3 years, and attended the academy of a local football club for around 6 years. In high school he developed drawing skills and made several paintings. Now he is focused in writing poetry and novels now.
He worked as a sport journalist at Kosovo.info, as a project manager at Kosovo Youth Institute and as a volunteer at ‘Nektari’ organization for helping families and orphan children.
Currently Asdren is attending the Faculty of English and Literature at the University of Prishtina. Since 2013, he has been volunteering at American Corner Pristina, where he enjoys teaching English reading and writing skills to young learners. He spends most of his spare time at the Corner, except for when his favorite soccer team, Manchester United is playing.
AtixheIbraimiatixhe-ibraimi2014-2015Lead VolunteerAtixhe Ibraimi is a third year student of English Language and Literature at the University of Prishtina. She was born in October 1992, in Gjilan.
Atixhe finished the secondary education at the “Zenel Hajdini” Gymnasium in her hometown, and she commenced the university studies in 2012.
She speaks fluently three languages: Albanian, English and Bosnian. She is also familiar with Spanish, and her next target is French. Her favorite hobbies are cooking and handicrafts.
She enjoys working with children, and she wants to become a teacher in future.
She loves to help people, and her biggest dream is to found a humanitarian foundation in the future.
Atixhe has been volunteering at American Corner Pristina since 2013.
DonjetaShatridonjeta-shatri2014-2015Lead VolunteerDonjeta Shatri is a third-year student of English Language and Literature at the University of Prishtina. She was born in 1993 in the city of Istog and now lives in Pristina. Donjeta has finished high school in her hometown and started studying English Language in in 2012.
Until now, she has done several translations for the Council for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms (CDHRF) in Prishtina as part of her internship and also many other translations for her studies. Except for Albanian, Donjeta speaks English and Spanish.
One of the main things she loves doing is helping others and that is why she started volunteering at the American Corner in 2013.
DorentinaIsufajdorentina-isufajDorentina Isufaj is a third-year student of English Language and Literature Department at the University of Prishtina. She was born in July 1994 in the town of Istog. Dorentina has ended high school in her hometown and has continued university studies in 2012.
She attended NaNoWriMo at American Corner where she experienced unique opportunities. Therefore, she decided to give back. Dorentina has been volunteering at American Corner Pristina since 2013. By helping others to benefit she also gained confidence, professional skills, experience, knowledge for new cultures and friendships.
Except for helping, two things that she mostly likes to do are reading and hiking.
In the future Dorentina desires to become a successful translator.
GëzimSalihugezim-salihu2014-2015Lead VolunteerGëzim Salihu was born in November 1991 in Skopje, Macedonia. He has been living in Gjilan since 1999, where he finished his primary and secondary education. He is a third-year student in the English Language and Literature Department of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Prishtina.
Gëzim’s hobbies include: football, hiking and photography. Gëzim has been volunteering at American Corner Pristina since May 2014. He participates in many different activities, especially ones that involve the use of English language.
GresaBujupajgresa-bujupaj2014-2015Lead VolunteerGresa Bujupaj is a third-year student of English Language and Literature at the University of Prishtina. She was born in 1993 in the city of Istog, where she continues to live with her family. Gresa has finished high school in her hometown and has enrolled in the university studies in 2012.
She is really keen on languages. Besides Albanian and English, she also speaks German and a little Spanish. Gresa has many hobbies but two things that she enjoys most doing are: reading and jogging.
She also likes helping other people and participating in projects that can be beneficial for the community. In the future Gresa wants to become a successful translator and interpreter.
Gresa has been volunteering at American Corner Pristina since 2013.
KateMulvey2013-2015English Language FellowKate is an English Language Fellow. She teaches English at the Department of English Language and Literature at Faculty of Philology of the University of Prishtina. She generously dedicates a lot of her time to voluntary work at the American Corner Pristina, teaching English, Literature, and Teaching Methods to students, as well as supporting and leading special programs and courses at American Corner. Kate is part of a State Department program for English teaching and learning, through the U.S. Embassy Pristina.
KlitShalaklit-shala2014-2015Lead VolunteerKlit Shala was born in 1994in the city of Prizren. He finished his primary school in “Mati Logoreci” and his secondary school in the gymnasium “Remzi Ademaj”, where he received his degree from in social sciences field in June 2013. It created the opportunity to pursue one of his life goals: becoming a lawyer.
Currently Klit is a second-year student of law at the University of Pristina. Besides being a lawyer, he enjoys other activities as well. At American Corner he takes part in diverse activities starting from literature, debating classes, and more. After becoming a regular patron and attending activities at the library, Klit became part of the American Corner family.
In October, 2014 he was offered to become a volunteer at the American Corner, and he accepted with great honor.
LeotrimeMaxharrajleotrime-maxharraj2014-2015Lead VolunteerLeotrime Maxharraj was born in September 1994 in Peja. She comes from a small village near the town of Istog. She has finished the primary and high school in her hometown. Currently, she is a third-year student of English Language and Literature at the University of Prishtina. In her spare time she likes to read novels and tries to write herself. Helping others and taking part in projects that are done for the benefit of the society are also some of the things that she enjoys doing. She has been volunteering for various activities at American Corner Pristina since 2013.
MirandaZeqirimiranda-zeqiri2014-2015Lead VolunteerMiranda Zeqiri was born in Ferizaj in 1992. She lives in a village near Ferizaj where she finished her primary studies. She finished high school in the gymnasium `Kuvendi i Arbrit` in Ferizaj. She is a third-year student of English and Literature at the University of Pristina. She loves working with children that`s why she chose to be a teacher.
Miranda has been working as a volunteer at the American Corner since June 2014.
RudinaTahirajrudina-tahiraj2014-2015Lead VolunteerRudina Tahiraj was born in Skenderaj in 1993. She completed her primary and secondary studies in her hometown. She is currently studying English at the University of Prishtina. Rudina is outgoing, cheerful, likes to work with children and loves music. American Corner Pristina has become the place where she spends most of her time. She has been involved in various activities, especially those related to education and English learning. Rudina encourages every student, regardless of their field of study, to enroll in the Corner’s activities because it is a great opportunity to help the community and it is a rewarding experience for anyone.
