Gender-based violence is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world. The prevalence of gender-based violence undermines the health, safety, dignity, and independence of its victims thus undermining the wellbeing of the entire community. The culture of silence and stigma surrounding gender-based violence makes it difficult for victims to get support and for societies to prevent it which is why it is essential for people to be educated on the topic. The theme of this year’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is domestic violence and the world of work; there is also an anniversary theme focusing on femicide as this is the 30th anniversary of the campaign. During the 16 Days of Activism Campaign, American Corner Pristina will provide information about gender-based violence, domestic violence and the world of work, and femicide as well as the work being done to prevent it and how individuals can help. Additionally, American Corner Pristina will share information posted by local NGOs on how they can seek support and services in regard to gender-based violence in our country.

Goal/s: To raise awareness and teach young girls and boys on gender-based violence, and how they can be active bystanders and prevent/end it with their actions.
